About Me
I am currently in my fifth year of teaching, but I have known since I was five that I was going to be a teacher. Therefore, starting in high school, I always found ways into elementary classrooms. My junior year of high school, I took a class that allowed me to be a cadet teacher in a third-grade classroom. That experience truly kick started my desire to gain as much time in elementary school classrooms as I could. In 2014, the summer before my senior year of high school, my family moved to Paris, France. I attended and graduated from The American School of Paris. I was disappointed to learn they did not have a cadet teaching program, but with the help of my counselor I was able to create my own course that allowed me to be a cadet teacher in a fourth-grade classroom at The American School of Paris. During my senior year, I was not only a cadet teacher, but I was also part of the Romania Club. Being part of this club allowed me to travel to Bucharest, Romania where I spent a week teaching English in a school for elementary-aged kids. My time at the American School of Paris continued after graduation. I spent summers there continuing to volunteer in first-grade classrooms. In the summer of 2017, my family moved to Puebla, Mexico. At the time I was finishing up my sophomore year of college, but was able to spend the summer volunteering at the Puebla American School Foundation where I helped teach English to second graders. The many international experiences I was fortunate to have guided my decision in not only becoming an elementary school teacher but also becoming an English as a Second Language teacher. I am extremely grateful for these experiences and I strongly feel they have made me the teacher I am today.

Living abroad has definitely given me the travel bug. I have loved traveling to almost twenty countries, but I have also loved exploring the United States and specifically Michigan. My goal is to visit all 7 continents, all fifty states, and visit all the lighthouses in Michigan. In my free time I also love to golf, this is a hobby I have enjoyed since I was about nine. On a nice day, if I am not golfing, then I am doing something outside. Whether that is exploring a new town, relaxing by the lake, or taking my dog Archie to a park. I have also developed a love for reading. My favorite genre is historical fiction but my favorite book to read to my class is The One and Only Ivan series by Katherine Applegate.
